How do you update your personal/photography website?

Asked by Juanita Ruffner — 29 Sep 2011

you have your home page, links, hidden pages, contact form. A blog also to connect to others & to share-that part is easy. It seems when you have visits/hits on a homepage, with the same words, paragraphs, that it would get old. Do you create a new page, hide the original, etc.....Thank You

my homepage is set up with a slider to display the 3 most recent items ive added to my portfolio page. the footer also does a similar thing for my blog page and twitter feed. So as long as I am updating regularly my homepage always has fresh content. Hope that helps out. Also, incase you are wondering I use wordpress for my site.

    Wordpress is a good start.
    - Make sure to have your own domain
    - Some hosting companies have ONE-CLICK-INSTALLS for Content Management Systems like Wordpress (wordpress is a good start)
    - Search the web for photography templates designed for wordpress
    - Ideally you want to show your new work on the homepage, like a blog-roll, then the user can click on your latest post to view its content. Your content can be a combination of images and text

Robert's right; the wordpress blog is the most SEO friendly way to make search engine's pay attention to your content, and crawl more often.

wordpress.com is excellent, easy to use. http://vinsanity.com is one of mine :-) My problem is I have so many blasted websites I am not devoting enough attention to any of them. You should be updating at least once per week, and use words that relate to your business in the title and body, along with images that have been NAMED with keywords in the file name you are trying to be seen for.

This is a $100 tip for free :-)
