JPGMag Suggestion: create categories to group my pix

Asked by Vin Weathermon — 19 Nov 2011

Because my photography is mixed with people, places, things I really wish I could allow visitors to be able to sort and view them by categories I've tagged the images with...so that People pictures can be viewed instead of everything I've uploaded since the beginning.

If it had this functionality I would call this my portfolio. Right now it is just a big confused pile of photos.

Photos can be added into categories in the "edit attributes" section of the photo or on upload. Enter a photo into a theme (tab) is the default. 3rd tab over is the categories tab. Here is a link to the view photo by category page. http://jpgmag.com/categories

@Vin Yes, right now your photos on your profile page are organized chronologically by the date you uploaded the photo. We are getting ready to start work on some updates to the photo stream here and your suggestion or something similar is definitely one we'll be looking at adding.

James; I don't particularly like the JPG categories. They are difficult to tie the to the photos, and aren't what I'd want to use anyway. The idea is right though....

Troy- glad JPGmag is thinking about user interface changes. I spend WAY WAY WAY
WAY too much money here to not have the toolset become extremely useful. The spotlight feature drains cash like crazy...it should pay off in features.

New features are underway. You may have noticed the dev-blog post about some upgrades over xmas weekend. this was paving the way for changes being prepared for release over the next couple of months. design, presentation, portfolios, etc.

The features we're working on now are definitely geared with addressing this (and MUCH more)!

    Stay tuned!
