Turned Photos

Asked by Apryl Binuya — 27 Mar 2012

Some of my photos are turned when I upload them into JPG, even though the are right side up before the upload. How can I fix this without being a JPG+ member? What am I doing to cause this?

What is happening is JPG is reading the .exif data from the raw file and orienting the photo as it was originally taken. Basically the when the photo is taken the camera will always label the bottom of the image. Your photo viewing software reads that information and displays the photo accordingly. Depending on the software you're using, if you manually rotate a photo, the software will usually change the .exif data, re-labeling the bottom of the photo. This is not always the case though.

Unfortunately our software displays the photo as the raw data suggests. You should be able to use any photo editing software to edit and flip your photo which will change the data on the photo.

Try using a different editing program to edit and/ or save your photo before posting.
