Full frame and cropped sensors

Asked by Matthew Coomer — 28 Aug 2012

I am an amateur photographer. I currently own a T3i with a crop factor of 1.6

I want to make the transition from what I currently have to a full frame cmos.

My problem is finding the lens's required for my college class's in full frame, or plain EF lens's. I am currently required to have (at some point) an 18-55mm and an 55-200mm lens.

Am I stuck using a cropped cmos to get into those focal lengths, or are there conversion factors that apply with a full cmos?

thanks in advance!

Buy the 18-55 and the 55-200 (assuming you will stay with the same vendor ie Canon Nikon or...
on your existing cameras they will be 28.8 x88 and 88 x 320 very useful lenses .
You will be missing the superwide 18 to 28 range, which could be covered by a single 18 if absolutely
necessary. This range is rarely used by most photographers except for landscapes.
