Underwater Casing Suggestions

Asked by Kristi Woody — 12 Aug 2011

I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions for an underwater casing. The camera that I would need it for is a Canon 5D Mark II, but I just need to know what the reliable brands are, and I figured JPG members are the best people to ask.

I'm hoping to get one without emptying my savings account. This one seems to be the absolute best, but I just can't afford it right now (http://www.ikelite.com/web_two/can_5dmkii.html). I'd love to know if any of you have had experience with some of the more affordable (and simple) casings.

Thanks!

Sadly, my Ikelite housing for the Canon Xti won't work for any other camera, and that is the situation for all housings. It is expensive but functional; a good product. Ikelite is NOT the best....there are far more expensive and whiz-bangy ones out there. I wouldn't trust the camera in anything cheaper than the Ikelite. I have had a flooded housing and that ain't no fun.

You sure you need the 5d Mark II in there? Why not a G12 and the housing that sells for around $300?

Thanks! I don't have a G12, and I probably won't be buying one because I have an s95. But maybe one of these days I'll save up for a casing!
