This Friday: JPG Gallery Breakthrough

Posted by Derek Powazek on 17 April 2007.

This Friday 20 April, the gallery show we've been working on with the San Francisco Arts Commission opens! As we mentioned before, one of the themes in upcoming issue 10 was Breakthrough, which sought photos about "discovery, invention, progress, and revolution." The theme is closed now, but you submitted over 3,000 photos.

Meg Shiffler, SFAC's Gallery Director, and Noah Lang, cofounder of Electric Works, reviewed every last submission and selected 22 to be printed and hung in the show. Check 'em out below. Congratulations to the featured photographers!

(Note: Photos selected for the show will not necessarily be in the magazine. Stay tuned for the issue 10 selections!)

But that's not all! The show also features the JPG Wall, which includes every photo submitted to Breakthrough. That's right - all 3,000+ photos, printed 2x2" in a huge grid. It looks awesome.

And the show includes a slideshow of your favorites from the Breakthrough theme. So if you helped us out by voting on the submissions, your work helped pick the photos in the slideshow. Thanks!

Finally, and most importantly: You're invited! If you're in the San Francisco bay area, please join us at the gallery this Friday at 6pm to celebrate the 3,000+ fine photographers who made this show what it is.
