Tony Day

Even though I spend the whole day running around the JPG site, I still find new JPG photography that completely blows me away. That's how I feel about Tony Day. He takes candid, seemingly straight-forward shots of the streets of London and manages to make them beautiful beyond belief. I particularly love his series of London shops and subway stops, taken from a straight angle, that are so full of detail and energy they seem almost staged. You can see more of his work at www.silvertonephotography.com. We asked Tony to share a bit more with us:

Name: Tony Day

Location: Barnet, Herts, England

My favorite camera: I have few, but the Canon 400D is the current fave.

My dream photo location: Australia, New York & Cuba

My deepest fear: Ill health

I've found unexpected inspiration: A photo by JPG member Wayne S. Williams called Life on the Line

I listen to: Richard Hawley, Nick Lowe, Bruce Springsteen, Marc Perrin, and my wife!!

The last thing I shot: The colourful borough market, London

I love jpg because: It's been so fun meeting others who share my passion. I love seeing the world through so many different eyes, and it gives me a chance to show it through mine.

I can't wait: for a holiday with my wife and son.

I love to shoot: Portraits and street photography. I love to search for great backdrops and photograph ordinary life going on in front and aim to make interesting photos.

Tony also wanted to extend a big thanks to JPG member Gabe Maxson for his support, encouragement, and inspirational photos. Here are some of my favorite photographs by Tony Day, all of which merit larger viewing. So click on them! Or see all of Tony's JPG photography here.
