I absolutely love photography that emphasizes textures and abstract surfaces. I've been so pleased to find some really amazing work by JPG member Dennis Blauer. His macro photography suggests everything from aerial landscape photography to oil painting and it's sometimes difficult to even know what you're looking at without reading the description. It's so great to find detail photography with such an emotional impact. Dennis also has some really beautiful nature photography, so make sure to check out all of his work.
I asked Dennis if I could feature him on the JPG blog and he provided a very thoughtful response:
"I have a love-hate relationship with attention to my work, a nervous excitement, and hope that it never causes me to shoot for the wrong reasons or feel that I am better than any other creative person! Photographs move me emotionally more than any other media and wish that characteristic for my photographing peers."
He also kindly provided a bit more information about himself and his work!
Location: Homosassa on the Nature Coast of west central Florida
I love to shoot: the natural beauty around all of us, no matter where we're at
My day job: Realtor
My favorite camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel
I found unexpected inspiration: stepping outside my comfort zones
My deepest fear: hubris
My dream photo location: anywhere with beautiful nature I haven't seen, Chile, New Zealand, Nevada, etc.
I listen to: NPR, blues-based rock and roll, folk music
I love JPG because: at JPG, the photo appreciation process is quite objective and democratic
The last thing I shot: a beautiful river scene on the way to work
I can’t wait to: meet the woman my daughter will turn out to be

Dennis also wanted to add that he gets the most enjoyment out of JPG by browsing other people's favorites and adding links between pictures. So check out those favorites and find some connections on JPG yourself!
If there's something or someone you'd like to see on the blog, let us know!
