Polaroid Closing Shop on Instant Film

Posted by Christi Ginger on 8 February 2008.

Sad news today! Polaroid is closing the last of its instant film plants to focus exclusively on digital photography. Polaroid has already stopped production on instant cameras and will soon completely halt productions on instant film manufacturing.

There are still other companies that make Polaroid instant film but surely this will affect prices and could make larger format instant film really tricky to find. If Polaroids are your thing, I'd stock up while you can!

It's too bad, Polaroids make such beautiful and interesting photos:

Update: JPG member and Polaroid aficionado Ritchard Ton pointed me to an online petition asking Fuji to pick up the production gap that will be left once Polaroid fully exits the instant film business. Get to clicking!
