Feeling Welcome in the World of JPG

As I settle into my summer internship with the JPG crew, one thing that highlights each day is finding photographs that strike a personal note. I love browsing through member pages and photo submissions because they broaden my perspective of this growing community. The most exciting part is relating to one of these photographs; it truly makes the world feel smaller.
I'm still in college, and this past semester was spent entirely outside my comfort zone. I studied abroad in Florence and Paris, and had the opportunity to travel all around Europe in my few months overseas. I've seen a number of photographs through JPG that remind me of my own expedition, and my heart races in excitement whenever one pops up.
I think that's why this community is so self-supportive. We come here not only to see great photographs, but to relate to one another. I see myself, my friends, and my family in a lot of these photographs, and I am sure that many of you feel the same way. The hair on my neck stands up when someone adds me as a contact—how exciting! A new friend.
Here are some of my favorite photographs from the community that remind me of my European travels. Thanks for making the transition into this community an easy and warming one.

Apothecary Now by Krithika Akkaraju. Skansen, the outdoor museum in Stockholm, revives Sweden's long, intricate history.

Amsterdam bikes by Roberto Alemu. When you cross the street in Amsterdam, you have to first cross the bike lane. Look both ways!!

Beggar by Ramsay de Give. This photo perfectly grabs Prague's tranquility and sincerity.

Paris Metro by Toby Caughron. I spent hours in the Paris Metro navigating around the city. It's easy to navigate, and such an efficient way around the huge city.

Voluttà by Davide Rizzo. This picture pays perfect homage to Florence's art appreciation. I adore this photo.
