LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph: ticket giveaway
Posted by Adam Hurly on 6 June 2008.
Next weekend is the LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph in Charlottesville, VA, and JPG is giving away a pair of passes! From June 12-14, the festival promises "peace, love, and photography as we transform historic downtown Charlottesville into a 'living image' and celebrate the careers of three legendary photographers: Mary Ellen Mark, Joel-Peter Witkin and James Nachtwey.
These three seminal photographers will each create a special gallery exhibit for LOOK3 and then individually share the stage at the historic Paramount Theater with NPR's Alex Chadwick to discuss their lifetime of work. The Festival will also showcase the work of many of the world's most celebrated photographers and exciting new artists, with images ranging from the fields of photojournalism to fine art. The popular 'YourSpace' exhibit will be back so that everyone can print and hang their own work for display.
The all new LOOK3 Theater will screen a dynamic multimedia program from contributors including Media Storm, Women Photojournalists of Washington, and the NY Times. Also, Sam Abell and Julie Blackmon share the stage with curators Leah Ben-David Val and Darius Himes to pay tribute to innovative collaborations between photographers and publishers in the BOOKS exhibition."
You can check out highlights from last year's festival. So here's the good news: JPG has partnered with LOOK3 and has received two passes for the festival. Each pass is valid for all three days and admits two people. We're giving them away to anyone who plans to attend the festival.
So, if you're interested, tell us and we'll randomly pick two JPG members (plus one guest each) to attend. You must include your full name, JPG username, email address, phone number, and festival plans (travel, guest, etc) in your message. Selections will be made Monday. And of course, we would expect you to document the trip and work with us to report the festival's happenings!
