Happy News For Your Happy Holiday

Happy (long) weekend JPGers! I hope you use your day off wisely... by taking more fantastic photos, obviously. Maybe you already are off by now, in which case I'm a little jealous. But only a little, because it is my joy to report to you the always exciting end-of-the-week JPG news.
FIRST: San Franciscans and New Yorkers, remember to mark your calendars for the Light-painting meet-up next Wednesday, September 3 at Dolores and Union Square parks, respectively. Bring your cameras, flashlights, cell phones, and so on, hang out with your favorite JPGers, and if that's not enough, we're joining forces with our friends at Lomography and Photojojo, for added inspiration, and some pretty sweet perks. I wouldn't miss out on this if I were you!
SECOND: We love recognizing our photographers' achievements here at JPG, and we'd really like to bring your attention to the amazing Shalyn Norris, who won first place in a photography competition at her local fair. The clincher: she's only nine years old. Gotta love budding geniuses; way to go, Shalyn!
FINALLY: Because we're all about spreading the love, Laura Boston-thek recently met up with one of her Laura Veith for coffee, walking, and of course some picture taking. We love hearing about you JPGers getting together, and are glad that they had fun and creative meeting!
Below, a photo of Shalyn and her winning photo (taken by her mom), and the super shot itself. Now. To the weekend, with you!
