A Few JPG Site Notes
Posted by Christi Ginger — 3 Oct 2008
Hey guys! There have been a ton of updates and little changes happening on the site, and I wanted to take a few minutes to explain some of the stuff happening right now:
- JPG 18 Notifications: Some people have mentioned not being notified yet about whether their photo was selected for JPG 18. We did send out all the notifications out a couple of weeks ago, and we're sorry if you didn't receive yours. Everyone who was selected was definitely notified, so be sure to double-check your SPAM/JUNK email box. The full list of contributors will be released next Tuesday on the Issue 18 page and we're working now on a new contributor system that will go through JPG site mail instead of email, to ensure we get the word out to everybody.
- Unread Site Messages: We've recently changed the way site messages are marked as read in your envelope. Before, messages were marked as read as soon as they were sent to your personal email. Now, everything will remain unread until you read it on JPG. Thanks for everyone's feedback on this one! (p.s. You can update or change your email preferences here).
- HTML in profile bios: Some of you hanging out on the New People Page a few weeks ago may have noticed some interesting new JPG members, less interested in photography, and more interested in informing you about CHEAP! LIPITOR! VALIUM! ONLINE! Yep, spammers. Due to some spammers messing around on the site, we had to beef up JPG security, and that means that you aren't able use HTML in your profile bios right now. You can still use the URL box to share your website or flickr page, but using complex html (beyond simple formatting tags) won't be available in the bio for a while. We're working on bringing it back!
That's it for now! Be sure let us know if you have any suggestions or thoughts.
