Photo Challenge: Lens Flare

Posted by Lauren Sloss on 5 November 2008.

Today, things are looking pretty bright and glowy. Which is why we opened a new photo challenge dedicated to capturing lens flare - the glowiest of all photo techniques (says a novice like me).

Lens flares cause crazy cool refraction effects, like circles and blown out rays, and have become super popular in both photography and film (read: artsy indie movies that I, for one, love... so Sofia Coppola) . Check out this wikepedia article for more information, and some technical suggestions.

So let the sun shine in! Here are some awesome lens flare-fabulous captures -- because I mean, the future's so bright... I've got to wear shades.

And yes, I just referenced the musical Hair and Timbuk3 all at once. I'm so proud.
