A new community manager for JPG!
Posted by — 29 Apr 2009
This amazing community wouldn't be nearly as vibrant without our community manager. And for nearly two years, Christi Ginger has served that role with tremendous compassion, skill, and finesse. Many of you have interacted with her via support mail, read her blog posts, or seen her wonderful prose and image selections in weekly JPG newsletters. And all of us have benefited from her deft management of community content and conversations--work which has helped make JPG a site filled with outstanding photographic content surrounded by meaningful, positive conversations.
Christi is indeed a truly talented community manager. But she's also a truly talented artist, and since the shutdown of 8020, she's been focused intently on her own personal work. Her time off from 8020 proved so prolific and rewarding that when it came time to restart the company, Christi decided to continue pursuing those personal projects rather than rejoin us as our community manager.
While I'm sad to see Christi go, I deeply respect her decision, and I can't thank her enough for all the effort, energy, compassion and enthusiasm she's given to everyone in the JPG community. I wish her the best of luck in all of her creative endeavors, and I also encourage you to keep in touch with Christi via her JPG Profile Page as well as on her Twitter Page.
As we say goodbye to Christi, I'd like all of you to say hello to our new community manager, Kit Richert. A super enthusiastic expert in online community and content management (with additional expertise in psychology, education, and digital media startups), Kit is excited to take over the reins from Christi and dive into the wonderful world of JPG. She's eager to post to the blog, write newsletters, moderate content, answer your support questions, as well as hear your suggestions for new themes, site features, or other ideas. So if you have an idea or a question, send it Kit's way by contacting us!!
With Kit now onboard as our new community manager, I'm also happy to report that we're beginning to answer all of those backlogged support questions you've sent since December. It's quite a long list, so be patient for a reply, but know it's on the way! In addition, Kit will start addressing all of the photo flags which have accumulated over the past four months, and will resume the process of enforcing our photo guidelines--which help JPG members focus their contributions around high quality original photography. You'll also start seeing blog posts from Kit about photo challenges and other community-related news in the very near future, so stay tuned for more frequent community updates via the blog.
Thanks again to Christi for her tremendous service to the JPG community, let's give a warm welcome to Kit, and yay JPG!!
