A note about JPG Magazine, your subscriptions, and Issue 20

Howdy JPG!

Since the recent acquisition of JPG, a number of you have been asking whether or not the magazine will continue to be published, and if so, whether your subscription will be honored. I'd like to use this opportunity to set the record straight on those important questions.

First off, JPG Magazine will continue to be published! This website, community, and the broader JPG brand simply wouldn't be the same without a printed magazine. That's why we're so determined to continue producing beautiful printed magazines which showcase some of the best work on the site.

Secondly, all paid subscriptions will be honored. This means that if your subscription or a gift subscription you gave to someone still has unfulfilled issues, those unfulfilled issues will be honored as each issue goes to press. This also goes for those of you who subscribed in December 2008 (whether as a paid subscriber or as part of our viral subscription giveaway promotion) and have yet to receive a single issue of JPG. As soon as our print production cycle gets back on track, you'll start receiving issues of the magazine. This will start with Issue 20, which is the next issue due to press, and features the themes Beloved, Severe Weather, and Shoot From the Hip (sponsored by Lomography).

Which leads to the next logical question: when's Issue 20 going to appear in my subscriberly hands? Because 8020 is in complete restart mode, we've needed to assess and better manage all of our costs--the biggest of which is printing the magazine. We're currently in the process of looking into different printers that can help us improve our cost of production (and therefore help keep our business afloat) while maintaining the fantastic quality JPG magazine has come to stand for. We're making good progress on this front, and I expect the process to conclude in the next few weeks, which means that Issue 20 will hopefully be in your hands this Summer!

Finally, please note that our subscriber customer service pages (which enable you to easily check on your subscription status, change your delivery address, request cancellations, and contact our magazine customer service representatives) are still not fully operational--and probably won't be for another 2-3 weeks. This is a result of other restart-related tasks, which we're working on completing as quickly as possible. I'll be sure to let you know as soon as that functionality is up and running again, and if you could hold onto your subscription-related inquiries until those pages are re-activated, all of us at JPG would be tremendously grateful.

I realize that this transition has taken far longer than any of us anticipated, so once again I'd like to thank you for your continued patience, support, and contribution to the JPG community. Count on hearing from me again soon regarding more JPG news and updates, and in the meantime thanks for continuing to upload, submit, comment on, vote for, and favorite each other's work--which is what makes JPG one of the most vibrant photography communities online!

Cheers,
Seth
