Photo Challenge: Silhouettes

Posted by Kit Richert — 17 Jul 2009

This week's photo challenge is more than meets the eye. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to use backlighting to turn your subject into a dark figure.

Sounds simple... but creating a strong silhouette can require more thought and compositional planning than your typical photograph. Context, facial features, color, and emotion can no longer be communicated through your subject. Instead, the photographer must rely on form, light, and composition to tell stories through the silhouette.

Whether you are a novice or seasoned as a photographer, take this challenge to the limits! Read the challenge for some tips, and submit your best silhouette!
