Shelter and Dreams of an Umbrella

Posted by Shayla Simmons — 31 Oct 2012

An umbrella has many purposes, one being the obvious: shelter from rain or snow. Since umbrellas come in an array of colors, shapes and sizes they happen to be a very stylish way to stay dry from the impending doom of a storm.  But, to a child an umbrella can be a vehicle for imagination.  An umbrella can carry a child to distant lands with a single bound just like Mary Poppins or drift them across seas, gently rocking them to sleep like Alice in Wonderland.

Of course, as the devastation wrought by Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast of the U.S. is all too evident, we offer a 'nod' to the trusty portable shelter of the umbrella and its ability to keep us dry in 'most' cases!  We hope you'll enjoy these amazing images of this oft-overlooked stormy weather friend.

All of us at JPG send our thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery to all affected by this terrible natural disaster.
