"One in 8 Million" Wins Emmy

You were probably on the edge of your seat waiting to find out who won the News and Documentary Emmys this past Monday night. I know I was. However, I was pleased to see that a wonderful web series called ”One in 8 Million” got noticed.
Every week for a year (the year being 2009), the photographer Todd Heisler and producers from the New York Times documented the individual lives of everyday New Yorkers. Except that no one was “everyday”- they all had unique stories and the combination of narration and images added up to moving and illuminating portraits.
Truly, each entry in this series is a winner - not a dud in the bunch. But to narrow it down, a smattering of my favorites are the Singing Waitress, the Mozzarella Maker, the Mature Actress, the Blind Wine Taster, and the Straight Brother.
And since this is a photo site, it would be remiss not to include the Tabloid Photographer.
