Today in the wide world of photography:
While clicking around luxury book publisher Taschen’s website, I came across this new Audrey Hepburn book that collects photos of the “Breakfast at Tiffanys” star taken by Bob Willoughby. Love the Tiffany blue spine, but not sure if I’m willing to shell out the Tiffany-priced $500 to make it mine, even if it is autographed.
I recently went to the New York State Fair just outside Syracuse. It was my first time at an actual state fair. I ate many fried things, drank lots of beer and admired prize-winning livestock. Consequently, I really enjoyed this National Geographic slide show all about ... wait for it ... state fairs!
As I mentioned yesterday, it is Fashion Week here in New York (ZOMG!!!) and photographer Kevin Tachman has some backstage pictures of model castings on his Backstage blog. You can check out the men here. We’ll let you know when the women show up.
And following up on the “Project Runway” scene, here’s some (admittedly not very good) photos of the final 10 contestants’ shows that took place this morning. Possible spoiler alert if you really care deeply about who wins this thing. UPDATE: Here’s a vastly superior photo wrap-up of the “PR” show from the NY Times though it has less snarky commentary than the Gawker one, which also gets points for being first to post.
Bored of the fashion? Eh, I don’t blame you, really. Here’s something more socially resonant - lovely vintage black and white images of Chicago’s South Side set to a jazzy score via the New Yorker.
And since I’m trying to be very serious to counterbalance my obsession with what to wear next spring, here’s a cool interview with photographer Bob Adelman on his career and experiences documenting the civil rights movement from the Miami Herald.
