The New York Times takes a tour of the Association of International Photography Art Dealers show which is on view at the Park Avenue Armory in New York through Sunday. Among the many, many photographers on view (and for sale! Get your AmEx ready!) are superstars Alec Soth (whose "2006_08zl0036" is seen above), Richard Avedon and Robert Mapplethorpe. There are also apparently many Japanese photographers in the mix as well, reflecting current world events.

But the real reason to visit this fair is for its wealth of older material, going back to 19th-century photographs by William Henry Fox Talbot and Eugène Atget and including classic 20th-century images by the likes of Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Berenice Abbott and Andre Kertesz. The front-and-center booth of Edwynn Houk has a nicely balanced selection that includes Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Steichen, Paul Strand and Man Ray, as well as some more recent work by Stephen Shore and Bruce Davidson.
