Daily News "Fotogs" Win Big at NYPPA Awards

The Daily News is crowing about their big win at the New York Press Photographer's Association awards with a typically tabloid-y headline "News Fotogs Shoot to Win." The paper racked up 30 awards including 4 wins from the NYPPA, the U.S.'s oldest press association.

- Debbie Egan-Chin took first prize for general news for her photo of 2-year-old Aiyden Foster's anguished aunt weeping in the rain after he was allegedly killed by his mother's boyfriend for failing to say his ABCs correctly. In all, Egan-Chin took home three awards.


- James Keivom won first place in sports feature for showing boxer Philip Jackson Benson's face of victory after knocking out an opponent in a super middleweight bout in July. Keivom scored a total of four awards.

- Craig Warga took top honors in the feature photography category for his picture of jubilant schoolchildren running through a downpour. Warga was honored with three awards.
