I became interested in photography when a freshman in high school (1949) in Wilmington, Illinois. I was good at mathematics and my math teacher was sponsor of the camera club. It was a natural fit! I borrowed my uncleâ€™s Kodak Bantam 828 and away I went. I soon got my own camera, an Argus C-3. My junior year I moved up to medium format with a 2Â¼ x 3Â¼ speed graphic. In college, at Illinois State University (ISU) in Bloomington/ Normal, Illinois, I was photographer for the University Publicity
