I am the original accidental photographer. I'm never sure what I have until I get home. I was a film & TV editor for over thirty years, so I have a good eye, it's the mechanics of getting the shot that throws me sometimes.
I got my first camera at age eleven, a Kodak Brownie, the ultimate point & shoot. Since then I've had many cameras & amassed thousands of pictures, but without a darkroom I've always been at the mercy of the labs. Now that digital is here I have total control.

Q: My sister in-law recently gave me a Canon EOS 10D digital camera body. Having only used point and shoot cameras, what would be a good beginners lens to get for this camera? Should I get kit lens to start with?
A: Do you know?
