I am a thirtysomething architect living in Portland, OR.
I have been an avid photographer since the age of 7, when I started collecting old cameras. I shoot primarily film, although I do a fair bit of digital photography as well. My primary (functional) cameras are as follows: Holga, PinHolga, Holgaroid, Brownie Hawkeye, Pentax K1000 (which I have had since I was 12), Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ10 w/ 35-420mm Leica lens, and an old Canon Powershot A40.

Q: My sister in-law recently gave me a Canon EOS 10D digital camera body. Having only used point and shoot cameras, what would be a good beginners lens to get for this camera? Should I get kit lens to start with?
