While growing up in the small town of Logan, WV, there were ample opportunities for inspiration but few avenues for expression. In a town where young men became coal miners, mechanics or criminals, Matthew passed the small town test, he left. While working as a party clown, he bought his first Nikon F2, and from his banal images of railroads, to his work with WIRED, ESPN and TIME, Mahon continues to prove his father wrong. Matthew is the single parent of 2 daughters and resides in Austin, TX.
