We start our mornings daily feeding the birds. This is a brightly colored male Baltimore Oriole who has now migrated South. His diet consists of either half an orange or jelly.

What a captivating bird portrait you have here! ...and a rather ideal situation, much more under your control than the usual feeding station. As these young thespians step onto your stage to audition for a leading role in your next production, you can act a set designer! Vary the drinking pot. Apply plants or other props to the wire, etc. Endless potential!! One of the things I like here is how well the water cup compliments the "actor's" breast. Alternate title: "One Leg Up".

Thank you for your good suggestions Rob. When I shot this picture earlier this summer, the morning glories that we planted around the trellis over the feeder had not started to bloom yet. The water cup that you mentioned is in reality the jelly dish but It had rained which is why there was water in it...The Oriole was indeed waiting for breakfast when I shot the picture.

Great color and wonderful shot. I love birds, too. Don't feed them as I own 2 cats (or do they own me? lol!), but really enjoy the bird watching. Such tricky creatures to shoot with their fast quick, darting movement, but you do a terrific job.
