Anyone who has seen the movie "50 first dates" must have been amused by the all the scenes containing spam trucks. It's a staple in Hawaii and its the same on Okinawa.
Just take every part of the pig that is inedible and stuff it into a can. Then sell it to the government as a meat substitute for our brave men and women in uniform. Part of the legacy of the American Years on Okinawa (and Hawaii) is the addition of this, "alleged meat product" to the diet regimen.
