Through the past of Berlin wall

In the 70's, The border separting between east and west germany consisted of two walls, Berlin wall and Backland wall ( Hinterlandmauer in german). The area between those was called " Death strip"
Peeping through a hole in Backland wall makes me understand the feeling of past east german people when the walls were there. This picture depicts what I mention about.
