Yes, me too! What kind of bird is it?

Really I do not know what kind of bird it is. I live in Montevideo and my house is quite close to the river Rio de La Plata but at the same time quite close to Atlantic Ocean, so is easy to see a mix of see birds and river birds.I saw this one at the beach after eaten some dead fish. I have not found in uruguayan bird books a reference of this bird, but is the first time I see it since 4 years living in Montevideo.

You did a wonderful job, it's not only a beautiful picture but the bird's features are quite clear - I hope a bird watcher on this site can help. Say "Hola" to Montevideo for me, I haven't been in a long time but I love the town.

Hi! This is a fantastical picture. The clarity and detail are incredible. I'm pretty sure it is a Southern Caracara, also know as the Southern Crested Caracara. It is a bird of prey in the Falcon family, but it will also scavenge for food and steal from other birds of prey and scavenger birds like vultures. I've done birding in the Northeast US and since I familiar with general field identification markers to look for, I took an educated guess & check Wikipedia for birds of prey in your area. Yeah, I know, I cheated! (LOL)
