The male cardinal comes to our feeder year around and this shot was taken in the spring. His red color matches the blossoms from the Flowering Crab Apple Tree. I love this bird not only for his beauty but he also is a good provider for his family who he takes part in feeding.

Andrea, you should be VERY proud of this image-- GORGEOUS!! Done with a telephoto of serious strength? How far back were you? You could not have captured him in a more ideal setting!

Andrea, this is your sister and I finally which took me 30 minutes was able to find out how to get in to comment. Your photos are fantastic and I especially like the beautiful one of the cardinal. You are lucky to have this beauty around your house! God has given you a gift in capturing the moment wherever you are with your camera. I love seeing photos of cardinals and this is one of the best I have seen.

Thank you to my sister Bonnie and to all who kindly commented here so far...In answer to Rob's question, I was 6 ft away from the Cardinal when I shot this photo through the window with my old Kodak Easy share DX7590 camera.... 380mm focal length... Aperture F3.70 , Shutter Speed 1/100 sec. ISO 100. (One mistake I made was that I forgot to take it off the portrait mode but it actually enhanced the picture which surprised me very much!:0)

He really is spectacular, Andrea. I appreciate the technical specs in your answer to Rob. Cardinals are such incredible beautiful birds. They just don't exist here in Southern California. Or at least not in the part of Southern California where I live. The color and contrast is wonderful. And it's a fave too. R
