2000 zYen
Shuri Jo Mon, the main gate to Shuri Castle in Okinawa. Commoodore Perry was carried through this gate on his historic visit to Japan in 1857. In 2000 the image of this gate was chosen to grace the 2000 Yen note by the the Bank of Japan board of Governors, Do doubt that it was a bit of arm twisting by then Prime Minister Obuchi, who later died in office and was perhaps one of the best friends Okinawa ever had in high office, that finalized that deal.
