The Devils Marbles are rock formations in Outback Australia where the 'marbles' are made out of denser rock than the surrounding countryside. The ground has literally eroded all away around the rock, leaving them standing in precarious positions, scattered across an entire landscape.
To give you an idea of size, I am 5'10", and stand less and half the height of the smaller ball.
