This is the same piece of plastic bag I photographed in Dancing with Leaves. I followed it for about 30 feet as it floated down a canal. I took several frames, but only these two were interesting enough to post.

That's a brilliant photograph. I was trying to figure out what that "thing" actually is before reading your notes. At first I took it for a frozen leaf. You captured it at the right moment.
