Cynthia Montiel is the Aztec performer in the picture and the photo represents elements of the past and elements of now. She is tied to her roots by dressing and performing as her ancestors did, but she is here in the now by holding a white and black notebook. Shimmers of light and smoke emerge from the background as the beautiful skeleton woman moves onto the foreground. Times may have changes, but the spirit of the Aztecan people march on.
