Here in San Diego, severe weather is a truly rare thing. Pretty much anything coming from the sky qualifies. So, when this electrical storm came crashing through Escondido, California at about 2am in 2005, I knew I was not going to be able to sleep. I grabbed my gear and our big patio umbrella and started playing with long exposures. I've seen weather all over the US, but this storm was a special one, and it gave me one of the most spectacular fireworks shows I have ever seen.
