It seems some feel I may edit my images a bit too much. I can honestly respect your opinion. I do soften here...sharpen there. Guilty as charged. I have only been a photographer for a little over a year now so I still have a lot to learn. I have always been into paints and charcoals. I suppose the artist in me needs to be tamed a bit and leave well enough alone :)
This image of my daughter is edit free. She is beautiful the way God made her and I would never intentionally take away from that.
I want to express my gratitude for all the comments I get on my jpg submissions...both positive and negative!
Thank you!

There's nothing wrong with editing your images in photoshop - isn't it the same as when photographers would work on their photos in a darkroom with chemicals to change colors, and do things like dodging and burning?
I think your editing work is very artistic and I like what you do for that surreal look :) This unprocessed one isn't a Chapman trademark shot - but still good. -

Actually it is a trademark shot because it has Amberlyn in it ;)

Amanda, Never lose the artist in you, you do not have to conform completely, art is formed in the artist's eyes and remember that!

I just want to say that I shoot BOTH film and digital and while I don't think that film is dead, I have nothing against digital or editing photographs (in the darkroom or on the computer).. I am a visual (2-D and 3-D) artist as well as a photographer and I don't think artistic license should be prohibited in photography, in fact I think the exact opposite, as I am a Creative Photography student in a Fine Arts program.. That being said, my previous comments were made on a specific image basis- that my opinion was, those particular photos would be STRONGER without the editing.. I didn't consider my comments to be negative in any aspect, just (my personal) CONSTRUCTIVE criticism (which any artist should appreciate).. As I said before, especially with the 'Do Not Disturb' photo, it is a WONDERFUL capture, a beautiful and artistic image, and I think that is a very positive comment! .. Keep shooting, you have a wonderful eye.. and a beautiful model ;] We all have more to learn, every one of us, regardless of how long we have been at this.. and luckily, when it comes to photography, all the practice is all the fun!
