Great Day for our Country..
I am happy that so many of my American & European friends out there feel the same way as I and my family....It is indeed a great day for all of us..Every one of your words really puts in to perspective this momentos ocassion..only sad that it took this long to happen!.. and that President elect Obama's grandmother and mother did not live long enough to see it unfold...We can all be proud to be Americans today.
Follow up...Please do read this letter I received this morning from a close friend in London..
Dear Diane
I must confess Jesse Jackson was not the only one to weep for joy. It was an historic moment and my thoughts flew back to the relief I felt, still a child, standing with my parents and my sister in the crowd in front of Buckingham Palace on 8 May 1945. We had cheered the King and Queen, the two princesses and Churchill on the balcony, and there was almost as big a cheer when, as the sun went down, the street lights, off since 1939, lit up.
Obama will need all the prayers of what is in your country, basically, a god-fearing electorate, as well as those from the outside world. I believe one welcome side-effect will be a diminution of the knee-jerk and dangerous anti-Americanism so fashionable on the left of the political spectrum here in Europe both during but also BEFORE the reign of George W.
As they say, God bless America, and you too!
John

I cried like a 5 year old when they announced his win.
It's not just a win for us.... It's a win for the World. -

You couldn't be more right my friend..it's hard to stop crying even now..It's going to take a while for the "wonderfulness" to wear off..My friends all over Europe are emailing me this morning with the same kind of words and emotions..There is HOPE!

I watched it all, it was amazing, spectacular, proud and truly a hopeful moment for an entire new era...Barrak Obama is an amazing human being and I am so thrilled he has made this not only a historical one, but one that may just change so many things for the better. I wish Canadian politics were even half the event and passion that this race was.
