I think that if you can be happy in the little daily things, if you can find deep and abiding satisfaction in something as simple as watching your lover sleep, then you have recognized that true happiness comes from learning to see the inherent beauty of the most every-day, quotidian things.
So, often, when I think of my beloved husband, this is how I see him. Loose-limbed in sleep, sprawled across the rumpled sheets in the soft, cool blue light of early morning, a hand or even a leg extended towards me, reaching for me even in his sleep.
