The region of Ypres was the scene the battle that ended after 51 months.

My husband is a historian who has recently begun studying World War I. The names "Ypres," "The Somme" and "Verdun" are well known in our home. It is fantastic to see this photograph, I wish more Americans remembered the loss of life, the struggle and the misery that was World War I.
