The 4x5 view camera may seem slow and cumbersome at first, but it provides the potential to capture amazing images.

"OK but it's so like uncool or something.. with my new iPhone i can make a gazillion stupid poorly exposed pics of kids on skateboards and oversaturated sunsets. This looks like it might even require people to put some thought into their work. Oh no, we can't have that. Like ewwww... who would want to do that? Like OK so... I gotta run out and by the very next mega-pixel modern marvel cuz all my friends have them and blah blah blah."

Theres a timeless beauty and simplicity to the view camera. I think I would enjoy the experience of working with one but haven't made the move past the reading stage.
Well done Chris. (The funny part about this image is the distorted perspective of the background ... something easily corrected with the tilt/shift capability of the view camera. I'm guessing you used a 35mm camera to make the image of the Toyo ! )
Thanks for your story and photos. -

Ah, tilts and swings, how I miss those. I still have my Cambo SC and Speed Graphic collecting dust. I'm holding on to them hoping for the day when the full coverage digital slider backs are affordable.
