I photographed the presidential election when Obama won for KQED's website, which is San Francisco's NPR affiliate. It was an extremely long day and when I was released around 1 a.m. all I wanted to do is get a drink and celebrate myself! The moment I stepped outside, there were crowds filling downtown celebrating the historic night. I was a student at the time and ran into 2 fellow SFSU students and we finally got to stop being reporters and start being normal, excited citizens again. At 2 when we walked out to catch the Muni I saw this across the street from us. With the words I found it ironic and sad. Here were all were celebrating history on the streets with people we don't even know and these guys are shut behind glass putting up the new Gap display at 2 a.m.

This is a great shot (look at the reflections in the glass!), and a wonderful commentary. I like your work a lot.

Great standalone shot. Story adds to it.

I thought irony meant "made up entirely out of iron'. but seriously, great observation and pretty serendipitous for you to notice that. At least they're getting paid; and everyone knows that the real party starts when everyone else is going home :)
