On the Cobh-Cork train, 2006. (This scene reminds me that I must try to buy Ferdinando Scianna's book To Sleep, Perhance to Dream some time...). Cobh is said to be the second largest natural harbour in the world. It is a pictoresque place to visit, and was probably a handsome spot even in the days when it was known as Queenstown and Ireland was part of the United Kingdom. It was the last glimpse of the home soil for large numbers of convicts shipped off to Austraila and the departure point for many emigrants seeking a better fortune elsewhere. Queenstown was also the last port of call of the ill-fated Titanic...
