This is a Night Blooming Cereus, a tropical plant I've grown and photographed for nearly 20 years. It is backlit with a 25 watt light blub.

We had a couple photographs of this flower submitted into the photography contest at the fair here. Volunteers come in and write comments for the beginner photographers and one had written that this flower might look better if photographed in the daylight. We had a great laugh over that and changed the comment. Yours is a much better capture!

I've had these in my yard in Texas (dappled shade) for over 15 years. I have one plant that has started to bloom in the early morning. I think it is trying to attract some kind of flying insect here. Anyway, love the back light of this epiphyllium.
