taken a while back at OHIO SOLDIERS' & SAILORS' ORPHANS' HOME 10/21/2005
The Home was established in 1869. It provided home for Ohio children who lost their father in the American Civil War, eventually the State of Ohio opened this institution to orphans of all military conflicts and children of all veterans including ones who did not die in the battlefield, the childrens were taught traditional education as well as training. The Home became the largest Orphan Home in Ohio and later became known as Ohio Veterans' Childrens' Home. In 1997 the home ceased operation.

I was fortunate enough to meet someone who lived and spent the early part of his life here and loved it dearly. I saw the grounds, the historical structures, the biggest barn I have ever seen, the beautiful trees and not to mention millions of fireflies. I felt the love and pride he had for this place and every year they get together sometime towards the end of July, I was even lucky enough to meet and spend time with the much older alumni of the Home. I believe the attendees are getting fewer, the older ones are passing away and the younger ones are taking over. I timed my visit when the leaves will turn for I was told its just so beautiful there, and true enough, nature didnt fail in showing me the beauty, I fell in love with this tree, it's so majestic, beautiful and perfectly shaped. It probably is not the biggest or the best one there but this one caught my eye. I used my Nikon point and shoot and at that time I was so amazed with the clarity and its ability to capture what I see. It might not be the sharpest photo I have taken but its so full of irreplaceable memories. Looking back now, I realized that its not really the camera but the person behind the camera and the feelings you have at that particular moment in time. I had this amazing opportunity to go there and visit and I seized the moment without a doubt, and yes I travelled alone. There will always be a window of opportunity and one must never be scared to jump in and take it. "Seize the MOMENT"

Mother nature gives us such beautiful colors in autumn. Too bad the window for getting shots like this is so short.
