Art is what sells
When asked to define art, Warhol responded "Art is what sells". An incredibly complex person, he wasn't being entirely cynical. I think he would have enjoyed having his image exploited as a window display at a gap store, though I doubt he'd have gone for the shirt.
Fortunately, I didn't have a polarizer, and I like the abstract effect, almost "surreal" (ugh, can't believe I used that word). But Warhol comes through despite all the competing reflections, testimony to his icon status.
