To the window
Flew a House Wren.
Tho' by nature wild,
She came as friend;
Didn't stop to catch
Bugs or flies,
But only to capture
Ears and eyes!
I heard and saw
In complete awe...
This bird sing
Her song to God!
Abundant with joy,
And full of cheer
Her notes loud
Were clear to hear.
Til' the evening
She entertained us
With her greeting.
In the morning
I saw her retrieve
Straw and twigs
From a pile of leaves.
This musical guest
Left to build a nest
Others on earth
Will follow along
For mothers give birth
And leave their song.
Poetry by me AJP
This picture I shot two years ago in May. I have never seen a wren before or after open its mouth so wide to sing its happy song!

Thank you all for your kind words...It was a most unusual little wren as I felt it sought my attention and even gave
me good eye contact when I shot the picture of it singing. -
