Please burn the walkers too
Pashupatinath, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is where bodies are returned to nature. It was so normal, beautiful and natural on the one side but on the other hand it was a very shocking experience. Especially when I saw the feet sticking out.
Breathing the air with the ashes and finding black snot in my hanky in the evening added to that. Nonetheless I was very happy to be able to be so close to this ceremony.

Yup, in Hinduism bodies are burnt. And I must say you are brave enough to witness this. I’m sure this would have been very nerve-racking!!!

Thanks Vidyavati! Actually I didn't feel very brave at that moment, but later I felt how moved I was by it all. It was very impressive.

It does seem natural and right ..the body as a vessel that contains our spirit so why not this way but yes the feet makes it poignant....Strong and wonderful image Lucy! Voted!
