Q: My sister in-law recently gave me a Canon EOS 10D digital camera body. Having only used point and shoot cameras, what would be a good beginners lens to get for this camera? Should I get kit lens to start with?

A: Do you know?

Inspired by a photo in the meta theme that was of a woman getting ready in the morning. I used that as an inspiration for a "meta-themed" photo, a little later in the day.

Great idea! I love the bright colors in the 'palate' and the lilac table. Good dof!

I love how you captured the image in the mirror, and also the bits of grime and imperfections in the glass - that touch of reality which, in a subtly ironic way, draws our attention to the fact that make-up is designed to "gloss-over" (pun intended) reality. And of course the tray of colors is iconic of the "palette", something we work with, though we substitute white balance and pixels for chalk and dye. Beautifully envisioned and executed.
