My hero is my wife, Debra.
When I looked at this image of her in Death Valley, I was struck by how much this symbolized her professional life right now.
She is a legal aid attorney and specializes in Home Equity Fraud. She rescues the homes of many elderly and/or low-income clients who cannot afford to hire an attorney to defend themselves when they are scammed, defrauded, foreclosed on, and evicted out of their homes; sometimes by their own children or relatives, sometimes by greedy predators of the lonely, the sick, and the vulnerable among us.
Add today's mortgage crisis, and she and her colleagues are being overwhelmed by the mountain of cases and calls for help. The stories are so heartbreaking!
She is a champion, slaying giants as fast as she can, while carrying the weight of stress and heartbreak on her shoulders and in her heart.
It is not for the faint of heart...but for her, this is the only type of law worth practicing.
